I have been enjoying painting this Hawaii Forest Endemic Bird Series. It is a rewarding and fulfilling artistic endeavor that allows me to express my creativity and contribute to the appreciation and awareness of these unique birds.
This painting captures the distinct beauty of the ʻĀkohekohe, the crested honeycreeper known for its vibrant colors and distinctive crest.
It is positioned gracefully beside the Ōhiʻa lehua flower, symbolizing its primary diet.
The ʻĀkohekohe is one of the largest honeycreepers and currently resides in high-elevation forests on the island of Maui.
The ʻĀkohekohe faces the harsh reality of being critically endangered, underscoring the urgent need for conservation efforts to protect its delicate existence.
