I'iwi is a native bird in the Hawaiian Islands. Its feathers were cherished by the Hawaiians, who used them to make feather cloaks, helmets, and other ornaments for the leaders and rulers of Hawaii. Nowadays, it is listed as a threatened species due to habitat loss and introduced diseases.
