There’s a lot of Crayon Melting Art online, but I was never tempted to try it because crayons were never on my list of art supplies. I never liked crayons; I still don’t.
Now that I have a child, I collect a lot of broken crayons, and instead of tossing them out, I decided to try them and turn them into broken crayon art.
It was a fun project to do with my son, with low-cost art supplies.
We needed a canvas board, black acrylic paint, broken crayons, paper tape, a glue gun, a hairdryer, and the sun.
Step-by-step guide
Silhouette drawing.
Paint the background with black paint.
Cover the black area with old magazine paper.
Organize and select the broken crayons.
Glue them on the board (in the silhouette drawing area)

6. Melting the crayons with the hairdryer.
It’s fascinating to see how different crayons can be more challenging to melt than others.
At one point, I was so engaged in the process that I stopped taking pictures :)
7. Let it dry.
8. We used small pieces of white crayon for the “stars,” laying them on the canvas board and allowing them to melt in the sun.
Watching the colors blend was captivating, and my son adored the transformation. After it dried, we proudly displayed our masterpiece, a testament to our fun and creative afternoon together.
